Eloise’s Cooking Pot Food Bank Wins Excellence Award!

Eloise’s Cooking Pot Food Bank of the Making A Difference Foundation is another one of the five amazing recipients of our Agency Excellence Award for the positive impact they’re making in the community!

This organization noticed that even with onsite food bank services, crucial necessities were still hard to access for many individuals and families across Pierce County. Recognizing that health issues, lack of transportation, and even fear of deportation makes accessing food more challenging, the ECFB has been providing home deliveries to their community for years. They are the largest home delivery program in the county, serving 17,000 people annually.

With the success of this program, ECFB could tell the need in the community was great. With the help of volunteers and a pick-up truck, they recently created a pop-up food bank to expand their services and capacity to bring food to their neighbors. The pop-up food bank partners with local churches, schools, libraries, parks, low-income housing complexes, and community events to give away free food to people experiencing hunger.  They’ve even made it so visitors can request food that fits their dietary needs and lifestyle – a crucial service for diabetics, seniors, and families.

They anticipate that this program will increase their ability to serve another 5,000 people in the coming months.

Let’s give it up for Eloise’s Cooking Pot Food Bank! These folks are really going the extra mile to prove hunger doesn’t have to happen.
