Corporate Donor of the Month: QFC

By June 9, 2020No Comments

Food Lifeline is honored to announce QFC as our June Corporate Donor of the Month. QFC is on a mission to end hunger in our community by making balanced meals readily available, sharing scalable food solutions with other retailers, restaurants and local governments, and working within their supply chain to provide more food for people experiencing hunger.

Every year, QFC provides Food Lifeline and our partners in Western Washington with millions of pounds of nutritious foods. Last year, that food provided the equivalent of 12 million meals. QFC also directly engages their customers to support our work twice a year, during the summer and holidays, to help raise funds for our mission of ending hunger in Western Washington. Last year’s summer hunger campaign at QFC helped raise the equivalent of 160,000 meals.

As you may be aware, the COVID-19 pandemic has created an unprecedented demand for food at food banks, shelters, and meal programs across Western Washington. We are seeing an average of 40% demand for food in the communities we serve. QFC has stepped up to help us meet this need through the current promotion, “Together Against Hunger”, in partnership with KIRO TV that kicked off in mid-April and will continue to run through the end of June. Through the promotion, QFC customers and cashiers have helped raise more than $100,000 to support our ongoing COVID-19 response efforts.

We are honored to partner with a company that truly cares about our communities and whose actions exhibit it. Food Lifeline extends enormous gratitude to QFC, their customers, and KIRO for their support and partnership during these most challenging of times. We are humbled by the outpouring of support we have received from these partners. We are also humbled by the enormity of the need. It will take all the generosity that we have received to date and more to ensure that our community receives the food it needs to thrive in the face of this pandemic.
