Corporate Donor of the Month: Legacy Group

Food Lifeline is proud to call Legacy Group its July Corporate Donor of the Month.

Well before the Hunger Solution Center opened in 2016, the Legacy Group had been making an impact on Food Lifeline by generously donating and installing the office furniture and carpeting for our new warehouse and administrative offices.

After the warehouse opened its doors, Legacy Group started an annual fundraising event to draw industry partners together to support our work. Legacy Putt Putt, a 9-hole miniature golf tournament, brings together sponsors and golfers alike, raising more than $7,000 in 2019.

In addition to its efforts in raising awareness and funds for Food Lifeline, Legacy Group also volunteered at our mobile food distribution at Northgate Elementary school, as well as volunteering at fundraising events like Dress Down Hunger and Taste of the Seahawks.

Most recently, when the COVID-19 pandemic began impacting our Western Washington communities’ ability to access nutritious foods, Legacy Group stepped up in a big way to support our COVID-19 response efforts by helping with transportation needs. In trying to fulfill the increased demand in our community, Food Lifeline staff was asked to help transport emergency food boxes in company vans because our trucks and drivers simply could not move emergency food boxes fast enough. The Principal at Legacy Group Inc, Lou Lanthier, reached out to offer both drivers and trucks to help with our efforts.

From Lou Lanthier, “Legacy Group has enjoyed over 20 years of growth and success in Western WA and we take great pride in being based here. A big part of our company’s culture is to give back to the community that has treated us so well. When COVID-19 hit, we had drivers on stand-by unemployment and trucks sitting idle, so it was a no brainer to redirect our resources to Food Lifeline as the need for their services exploded. They play an essential role in providing nutritious food to those who so desperately need it”

Thank you, Legacy Group, for all your support throughout the years!
