Amazon Delivers! (Gifts from Procter & Gamble)

For people experiencing hunger, securing food is the primary goal. But because food insecurity is a financial issue, providing our clients with other household items allows them to use more of their available funds for food.

That’s why a recent donation from Procter & Gamble and AmazonSmile is such an amazing gift.

This week, the team delivered 4,000 pounds of toothpaste, laundry detergent, feminine hygiene products, shampoo/conditioner, soap, deodorant, diapers, and other household items to Food Lifeline!

From December 2020 until February of this year, Procter & Gamble created a donation portal on the AmazonSmile Charity Lists site, where every purchase of selected household products was matched with a donation of the same item.

Today, Food Lifeline now has 14 pallets of these items to distribute immediately through its Agency Express distribution program. More than 300 food banks, shelters, and meal programs will now have these items to distribute to its clients.

Hannah Lertola, a Food Sourcing Specialist for Food Lifeline says this donation is critical.

“While the number of people experiencing food insecurity continues to increase, so does the need for household and personal care essentials for things like diapers, feminine care products, and shampoo/conditioner. These are essential basic need items that are expensive and not covered by any government assistance programs like SNAP or WIC – and no one should have to choose between these essentials and other basic necessities like food and housing.”

A huge thank you to our friends at AmazonSmile and Procter & Gamble for creating such an impact with this generous donation!
