Cole, Eve and friends volunteering at Food Lifeline on MLK Day in 2019

Cole, 11 and Eve, 8, along with their mom Jessica, recently hosted a virtual food drive to benefit Food Lifeline.  In the past, they would do various volunteer activities together, including a day of service on Martin Luther King Day. But since they couldn’t volunteer in person this year they sought out other opportunities to make an impact.

Jessica and her kids chose Food Lifeline because they had volunteered with us before and felt it was a great organization. They were aware that hunger is always an issue in our community, but felt the need must be greater now due to the pandemic. They wanted to support the people in their community.

Their virtual food drive was a big success! They had intended to do a canned food drive, but saw on our website how much more efficient a virtual drive was and how many more meals it would provide, so they decided to do that. They were thrilled that they raised 2.5 times more than their original goal!

Cole, Eve and Jessica felt like they made a difference from their own home. They encourage others who would like to support Food Lifeline to do so as well. Learn more about how you can make a difference here.
