Meet Glenn and Javon

Like us, you have probably been thinking this week about the incredible service our veterans give us. Here in Western Washington almost 40% of the people who use food banks have someone in their family who served in the military. That is almost twice the national average.

The good news is that your support helps us make sure these families get the food they need. Glenn and his grandson, Javon are one of the many families you have helped this year.

Glenn served in the military from 1976-80. He got his daughter excited about the military and now she works on the flight deck with the SEALs and the marines. Her work takes her all over the world, but it means that Glenn now takes care of her three kids Javon, 12, Alicia, 10, and Justice, 7.

Glenn lives off his disabled veteran benefits which is why he is so grateful for the Maple Valley Food Bank. The food bank makes it possible for Glenn to take care of his grandkids. Glenn’s daughter hasn’t been able to get home in quite a while. Which means the whole family is even more excited that she will be home for Christmas.

Your support of Food Lifeline makes it possible for us to get food to Maple Valley Food Bank and the shelves of families just like Glenn’s. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of thousands of veterans.
