Kids Cafe in Full Swing – Powering Up For Summer Fun!

By August 4, 2015July 16th, 2018No Comments

“The food is so good.” “Every day it’s something new.” “I like when they give me apples.” “I come to the Boys and Girls Club because you feed me.”

What do these quotes have in common?

They all come from kids who are enjoying meals provided through your support of Kids Cafe

This summer, Kids Cafe is experiencing tremendous growth over 18 different sites across Western Washington.

“During the first two weeks of Kids Cafe this summer, we served almost as many meals as we served all of last summer.” says Stephanie, Kids Cafe Coordinator.

And that number keeps on growing. In July alone, Kids Cafe served over 33,000 meals and snacks.

Why do those meals matter?

Once summer comes around, more than 300,000 children in Western Washington don’t have access to the meals they normally get at school. For many families this can be a difficult time, which is where Kids Cafe comes in. By partnering with places like libraries, Boys & Girls clubs and other community based organizations, Kids Cafe brings nutritious meals to where kids already play and learn.

What do our site coordinators have to say about Kids Cafe?

“It is going really well!! The kids love the food; it is bringing in more kids during the afternoon!” – Sarah, Site Supervisor, Trailside Club, Snohomish County

“We have seen a lot of regulars come in as well as several new faces every day. Many parents, families and youth have said how much they enjoy and appreciated the program which truly brings a smile to our faces. Can’t wait to see how the rest of the summer goes.” – Elisabeth, United Way Volunteer, King County Library in Kent
