Kick Hunger Challenge Update #2

By January 25, 2016July 16th, 2018No Comments

Since September we’ve been turning thousands of Seahawk fans into hunger-fighting heroes.

The Kick Hunger Challenge has been a heated contest between the Seattle Seahawks and the other 31 NFL Teams. Fans here in Seattle have been furiously donating online, purchasing the official Ames Bros Shirt, and attending great Kick Hunger Challenge events.

The Metropolitan Market Chili Cook-Off featured some of the best chili recipes in the state! Chef John Howie brought his own delectable chili, while Seattle Mariner legend Jay Buhner and former Seahawk Craig Terrill came by to help pick the winner. (And it wasn’t Chef John.)

The entire Kick Hunger team was there as Kirkland residents voted for their favorite chili. Craig Terrill even strummed the guitar and serenaded the crowd with a great cover of  “Let it Go” from the movie “Frozen.”

Competitors or this year’s chili crown included Cinco Chili Chili, The Last Chili Treasure of Azteca by the Kirkland Booze Bandito, Feast Mode, Colorado Cowboy Chili, and Big Dave’s Chili.  While attendees noshed on these spicy concoctions, Coby Schultz from Ames Bros was busy selling their Kick Hunger Challenge shirts. It took a team effort to pull off this event, raising thousands of dollars to help feed our hungry neighbors!

Across the lake, our annual Kick Hunger Challenge Dinner and Auction on Jan. 13 sold out and raised several thousand dollars.

Chef John Howie and former Seahawks player, Craig Terrill hosted the San Francisco-themed buffet dinner, with live music and auctions that included Seahawks memorabilia, food-and-drink certificates and other surprises like airfare, accommodation, transportation and game tickets to Carolina for the NFC Divisional Playoff Game.

The crowd was also treated to a visit from current Seahawks Steven Hauschka and Brandon Mebane, while former players like Paul Moyer and Sean Locklear also posed for pictures and signed autographs.

Although the Seahawks are out for the season they’re still in the Kick Hunger Challenge season. Right now we’re standing in third place with the Panthers at second and the Patriots in first.

We can’t let this happen!!!

You can help the Seahawks win their fourth Kick Hunger Challenge in a row by making a donation now.
