Instacart is back for Stamp Out Hunger!

Stamp Out Hunger is the largest national food drive on Saturday, May 13, 2023.

Food Lifeline is again teaming up with Instacart to help stock the shelves of food banks across Western Washington. Instacart is the presenting sponsor of Food Lifeline’s 2023 Stamp Out Hunger event, providing financial support and a team of volunteers to help round up donations.

Instacart knows a thing or two about delivering food. The company is the leading grocery technology company in North America, helping grocers and other retailers across North America connect with their customers online and offline. Today, more than 600,000 Instacart shoppers deliver from more than 8 0,000 grocers and retailers across 14,000 cities in the U.S. and Canada.

Instacart believes everyone should have access to nutritious food and more time to enjoy it together. That is why they launched Instacart Health last fall, to help more people access the food they need to live healthier lives. This work aligns very closely with the mission of Food Lifeline.

Casey Aden-Wansbury, Vice President of Policy & Government Affairs at Instacart

“We’re on a mission to create a world where everyone has access to nutritious food,” says Instacart VP of Policy & Government Affairs Casey Aden-Wansbury. “Some of the world’s biggest health problems are actually food problems — and we know health starts at home. We’re proud to know that millions of people daily turn to us to access food and essentials from retailers they trust.”

That’s why Instacart focuses on providing access to nutritious food, including those who lack transportation and delivering to areas designated as “food deserts.” A food desert is an urban or rural area in which it is difficult to buy affordable or good-quality fresh food and where access to grocery stores is often miles away. This is a viable long-term solution for communities lacking grocery store access. The company also helps retailers accept EBT SNAP payments, which in turn helps struggling families access healthy, nutritious foods. Nationally, Instacart also works with Feeding America to help develop programs that address hunger while providing funds that have created millions of meals, including giving you the opportunity to donate to your community food bank through their Community Carts program.

According to Aden-Wansbury, partnering with Food Lifeline on Stamp Out Hunger is part of Instacart’s long-term commitment to effecting positive change in communities across Western Washington.

“Food Lifeline is a wonderful asset to the community and provides an important piece of the puzzle by addressing the root causes of food insecurity.”

Food Lifeline would like to offer a huge thank you to Instacart and its partners for helping prove that hunger doesn’t have to happen.

If you would like to donate food for Stamp Out Hunger, keep an eye out for a blue bag your letter carrier will leave in your mailbox a few days before the event. Simply fill the bag with groceries and leave it at your mailbox. Your letter carrier will make sure your donation gets to Food Lifeline, providing much-needed food for the more than 400 food distribution locations serves across Western Washington. Stamp Out Hunger is Saturday, May 13, 2023.
