Hunger and Health Kickoff

A very special group of healthcare professionals met recently to begin what will be an important piece of work – solving issues at the critical Intersection of Hunger and Health. What we know now is that more meals means better health which means better outcomes. This group will be working to find strategic actions that grow a healthier community.

Cambia Grove hosted the panel discussion, and was led by our board members Chris Blanton of BridgeSpan, Suzanne Daly of Providence, Food Lifeline’s CEO Linda Nageotte, and Dr. Fathi, CEO of Coordinated Care.

The event featured a diverse group—ranging from major care organizations, non-profits, public health officials, and representatives from elected officials. The goal of this Healthcare Initiative is to best identify the existing resources in Western Washington and solve issues regarding hunger, nutrition, and health.

One of the highlights of the evening was a presentation by Dr. Jay Fathi, CEO of Coordinated Care. Dr. Fathi was able to give the audience a unique take of hunger and health from both a clinical and a business perspective.

The new Hunger Solution Center will play a big part in this initiative as it moves forward. The new facility will give this group the space and access to information that will prove to be invaluable as this initiative moves forward.
