Corporate Donor of the Month – Gesa Credit Union
Food Lifeline is honored to celebrate our partners at Gesa Credit Union as our Corporate Donor of the Month for September 2021!
Gesa Credit Union is a member-owned financial cooperative that prioritizes community outreach and has been making a positive impact in the community since their formation in 1953. Gesa Credit Union is also Food Lifeline’s Hunger Action Month 2021 presenting sponsor!
Hunger Action Month is about raising your voice to advocate for initiatives that support individuals and families who are experiencing hunger across the US. Angie Brotherton, Assistant Vice President of Community Relations for Gesa Credit Union says “Gesa is proud to support Food Lifeline in their campaign to raise awareness about hunger and to safely mobilize the public to take action. We’re happy to take part in the incredible work that Food Lifeline does every day, and we are grateful that our team’s efforts can help make a difference in the lives of many individuals across the state who are experiencing food insecurity.”
Gesa Credit Union employees regularly give back through donations and volunteering at nonprofits across their service area. Gesa employees recently volunteered with Rod’s House, in Yakima. They shopped for supplies and assembled backpacks full of nutritious shelf-stable food for local youth. Rod’s House works with vulnerable youth and young adults by providing food, clothing, housing, education, and employment readiness.
In Spokane, Gesa Team Members spent time volunteering at a Second Harvest Mobile Food Market held at the VA Medical Center to distribute nutritious food to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.
With Hispanic Heritage Month on the horizon, Gesa employees are getting ready to celebrate with financial education sessions in English and Spanish along with plans to give back to organizations that directly support Latinx-identifying communities.
Food Lifeline is excited to host a group of Gesa Credit Union volunteers at the end of September.
