Open Enrollment Time Again!

By November 2, 2015July 16th, 2018No Comments

The more we learn about the intersection of hunger and health, the more ways we find to work together and link the clients we serve with services that can help both their health and their household’s monthly budget.

From November 1 through January 31st  Washington Healthplanfinder is up and ready for open enrollment! Individuals who signed up for insurance through the exchange last year need to either renew or sign up for a new plan, and also provides an opportunity for anyone in need of insurance to sign up for the first time. These plans qualify for subsidies for households making up to 400% FPL. Very low income individuals, families, and children still qualify for Apple Health and can sign up at any time through the same site.

Washington State has a number of resource that are available for you to easily download or order to let your clients know about this opportunity – many are targeted to specific populations and are available in multiple languages. The Healthplanfinder site has many resources for partner organizations, and the Health Care Authority has information about Apple Health.

This year there is a great calendar that lists enrollment and outreach events throughout the state, including many rural communities. You can search and filter by locations near you. The events also include what information clients should bring with them if they are wanting to sign up for a plan.

Want to promote this opportunity but aren’t sure how? Contact Katharine Ryan in Food Lifeline’s Public Policy Department to brainstorm opportunities that will work for your organization.
