Kids Cafe Expands

By February 21, 2017July 16th, 2018No Comments

Food Lifeline launched seven new Kids Cafe afterschool meal sites in early 2017 in partnership with The Seattle Public Library, King County Library System, and United Way of King County. Kids and teens ages 1-18 can now enjoy a free, nutritious meal after school at seven public libraries in Seattle and King County.

Why Kids Cafe? When school is out and parents are at work, children need a safe place to play and do their homework. Children who rely on free or reduced meals during the school day still need nutritious meals and snacks in the afternoon and evening. Kids Cafe serves meals with fruits/vegetables, low-fat proteins, whole grains, and milk, that meet the requirements of the USDA’s Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).

Check out the list of participating branches below and download a flyer to spread the word (Kids Cafe at SPL & KCLS).
