Volunteers Pack 263,000 Meals at Lumen Field in Honor of September 11
We joined hundreds of volunteers at Lumen Field to honor September 11th by sorting and repacking food for our neighbors across Western Washington. All together, 662 volunteers, representing 41 teams, packed 263,000 meals.
This year was the 25th Anniversary of 9/1, and through the nationwide day of service 50,000 volunteers across the US packed 18 million meals.
Every meal packed represents more than food. It sends an important message that no one has to face hardship alone.
As our CEO shared, “Days like today are important – but our work doesn’t end here. Food Lifeline will continue its mission every day. We welcome and invite everyone to get involved in the work we do.”
Unopened bags of rice and lentils were donated to Food Lifeline for distribution to our meal program partners. Thank you to everyone who joined us in turning compassion into action and making a meaningful impact in our community.
