Recipe: Apple or Pear Crisp

Apple Crisp

Place apples in an 8” x 1 1/2” round or square baking dish.  Stir in sugar to coat apples evenly.  Apples will shrink down so fill the dish heaping full.

For topping, in mixing bowl combine oats, brown sugar, flour, spices.  Cut in butter till mixture resembles coarse crumbs.  Stir in nuts if desired.  Sprinkle topping over filling.

Bake at 375 degrees for 30-35 minutes or till fruit is tender and topping is golden.

Pear Crisp

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Place the sliced pears in a 9×9 inch pan. Mix the white sugar, 1/2 tablespoon flour and ground cinnamon together, and sprinkle over pears. Pour water evenly over all.

Combine the oats, 1/2 cup flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda and melted butter together. Crumble evenly over the pear mixture.

Bake for about 45 minutes.
