Nutrition Matters for Everyone

You have probably experienced the impulse to order a pizza, instead of taking the time to cook a meal for you or your family. Choices about food are a constant part of our lives and making healthy ones isn’t always easy.

These choices become even harder when budgets are tight and cupboards are bare. Limited choices are a reality for many people who use food banks. 89% of clients buy unhealthy food because it is more affordable and will help them feed their families for longer.

That’s why making sure food banks are stocked with fresh produce, dairy and high-quality protein is even more important.

Here at Food Lifeline, we work hard to get healthy food to people in need every day. In fact last year, 70% of the food we distributed were healthy items like grains, dairy, meats, and fruits and vegetables.

But we can’t do this work alone. March is National Nutrition Month – a great chance for you to help get more healthy foods to people in need. Whether it is working to improve the health of your own family or contributing to others, here are a few resources that can help.
