New Production Codes for Food Distribution and Receiving

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on our product descriptions on Agency Express. We heard loud and clear that descriptions need to be improved to make the ordering request experience smoother

One of the ways we’re seeking to improve descriptions is by refining the categories of assorted product. We will be sorting dry (shelf-stable) items into 15 categories. Frozen items will be sorted into 10 categories and cooler items into six categories. The new categories will give you a clearer idea of what items to expect in an assorted case.

In August, our Volunteer Production Team will begin using the new categories when sorting through donated cooler and freezer items. New categories for sorting shelf-stable donations are scheduled to begin in September.

Here are the new categories:

Cooler Sort Categories

  1. Assorted Juices
  2. Assorted Dairy (cheese, yogurt, cream cheese, sour cream, etc.)
  3. Milk
  4. Assorted Fruit
  5. Assorted Vegetables
  6. Non-meat Protein (eggs, tofu, tempeh, etc.)

Frozen Sort Categories

  1. Bread Products (rolls, muffins, etc.; excludes sliced bread)
  2. Sliced Bread
  3. Desserts
  4. Poultry
  5. Beef
  6. Pork
  7. Other Meat/Protein (lamb, goat, fish, etc.)
  8. Assorted Fruit
  9. Assorted Vegetables
  10. Entrees and Appetizers

Dry Sort Categories

  1. Baking Mixes
  2. Canned Fruit/Vegetables
  3. Canned Protein (meat, non-meat)
  4. Assorted Beverages
  5. Water
  6. Condiments/Sauces
  7. Meals (rice, pasta, macaroni and cheese, soup, etc.)
