Gesa Teams Up with Food Lifeline for Hunger Action Month

We were thrilled to have Gesa Credit Union employees volunteer with us on Hunger Action Day to help kick off our Hunger Action Month partnership.  With the help of eight volunteers, who donated 16 hours sorting and repacking corn and pears, we were able to distribute 14,200 pounds of fresh produce to our agency network, serving more than 1.7 million neighbors across Western Washington.

“We’re honored to once again partner with Food Lifeline and Second Harvest to support the incredible work they do, providing nourishing meals to individuals and families throughout the Pacific Northwest. Hunger continues to affect so many of our neighbors, and often it goes unseen. That’s why our team is committed to helping strengthen the support systems that serve those who need it most. We’re proud to stand alongside these organizations and look forward to making a lasting difference together.”

During September, food banks across the US are encouraging neighbors to take action against hunger, including volunteering, hosting food drives, donating money, and messaging legislators, allowing everyone to take action.

“Ending hunger requires more than just food—it takes shifting systems, centering community leadership, and building long-term solutions rooted in equity. Hunger Action Month is about coming together to take real steps toward a just food system—and Gesa Credit Union shows up as a partner for that vision year after year,” says Stephanie Cole, Food Lifeline VP of Strategy & Impact.  “Their partnership during Hunger Action Month supports food access for our network of nearly 300 partner agencies, while also fueling momentum for a stronger, more just food system across our region.”

Gesa Credit Union encourages members to get involved during Hunger Action Month by collecting shelf-stable food at their branches and inviting members to donate funds, which are matched dollar for dollar up to $25,000 Those matching funds are available to all donations during September, so everyone can double their impact during Hunger Action Month.

Thank you, Gesa Credit Union, for your ongoing support of our work and for leading by example.  When everyone takes action against hunger, we move closer to ending hunger in our communities.
