Food Lifeline Launches Season of Giving Campaign
Washington’s largest hunger-relief group begins it’s holiday awareness and fundraising campaign.
Food Lifeline announced today that it’s Season of Giving Campaign begins as Western Washington continues to struggle with the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. This year twice as many neighbors are experiencing food insecurity. One in five of our neighbors – children and parents, grandparents, friends, and co-workers may have to make difficult choices between paying rent, increased utilities and having enough to eat.
According to Food Lifeline’s President and CEO, Linda Nageotte, this campaign is critical to providing food to more than 1.4 million people in Western Washington that may face hunger this holiday season.
“As the pandemic continues, we are seeing so many people suffer. There are thousands who are visiting food banks for the very first time. For those who were already experiencing poverty before the pandemic, the numbers are even larger.”
In order to meet the need this winter, Food Lifeline’s goal for the campaign is $4.5 million, which creates the equivalent of more than 22 million meals. The public is encouraged to join this campaign through crowdfunding, donations, and volunteering. They can learn more here: foodlifeline.org/seasonofgiving Every gift makes a difference.
