Food Frenzy Heros
As teams across Western Washington gear up for this year’s Food Frenzy competition, we’d like to introduce you to this year’s presenting sponsor, the team at Sound Community Bank!
Sound Community Bank joined Food Frenzy back in 2011. According to CEO Laurie Stewart, it was a natural fit for the bank.
“Community is our middle name, and we believe that we can best serve our customers when we serve everyone in the community.”
-CEO Laurie Stewart,
The team raised over $2,000 that first year, but it was just the beginning. Over the following 14 years, the team has raised more than $500,000 for Food Lifeline.
Every year, the Sound Community Bank team holds contests, raffles, and challenges that are creative, engaging, and just plain fun.
“It is a frenzy. It is frenetic,” says Stewart. “It is two solid weeks in, and our clients put up with us because we’re just all agog over these raffles and prizes and competitions to win things.”
Sarah Stien says it’s also become one of her favorite times of year.

“It’s such an exciting way to give back, and you may or may not win. Usually, you don’t win, but it’s okay because even just participating in the food frenzy, doing the raffle, and bidding up is so much fun.”
In 2016, the team became the presenting sponsors of Food Frenzy, using their creativity and dedication to inspire other teams.

“They bring such a great energy to the competition”, says Food Lifeline’s Corporate Relations Officer Leeann Huntington. “They also help educate and inspire new teams, which helps us build the event.”
As a part of the competition, the Sound Community Bank team also volunteers and collects donated food, tripling their efforts to support those in Western Washington experiencing food insecurity.
Three cheers for Sound Community Bank!
