Last week Land O’ Lakes donated 40,000 pounds of frozen macaroni & cheese to Food Lifeline. Easy to prepare, low in sodium and high in taste, this food will be hugely appreciated by the many meal programs supported by Food Lifeline. In fact, Food Lifeline provides 30% of the meals being served by food banks, meal programs across Western Washington.
This donation took place as part of Land O’ Lakes First Run Program, which helps get fresh food, made specifically for food banks, to those in need. Since the start of the program in 2010, Land O’Lakes has donated more than 2.8 million pounds of food.
This generosity stems from Land O’ Lakes commitment to alleviating hunger nationwide. “As a national, farmer-owned cooperative, Land O’Lakes is committed to help the growing number of people who struggle to put food on their table,” said Land O’Lakes Foundation Executive Director Lydia Botham.
Food Lifeline also serves as a great partner for Land O’Lakes donation due to its high capacity for frozen food AND its teams of volunteers who can add labels and cooking instructions to each package of macaroni and cheese.
“Donations like this mac & cheese make a huge difference in stopping hunger,” said Food Lifeline President & CEO Linda Nageotte.
