Statewide Food Security Strategy
This summer, stakeholders across Washington’s food system—including Food Lifeline—have been actively convening to shape a groundbreaking policy bill aimed at aligning food security strategies across state government.
Championed by State Representative Kristine Reeves, this effort represents an unprecedented opportunity to respond to recent changes in the federal social safety net driven by the current administration. The proposed legislation would function as a comprehensive, statewide “farm bill,” enabling a coordinated, systems-level approach to food security. By leveraging the best ideas and practices from state agencies, the agricultural community, charitable organizations, and business partners, Washington can build a more resilient and equitable food system for all.
