Seahawks Kick Hunger All the Way to the End Zone

For the third year in a row the Seattle Seahawks have come away with victory in the Kick Hunger challenge. Fans from across the country gave $127,344 to help stop hunger. With the additional $10,000 in prize money provided by the Taste of the NFL, this will provide 686,720 meals across Western Washington. That is enough food to feed everyone person at University of Phoenix Stadium over 10 times.

“Even though Western Washington is swept up in Hawk-Mania, the “Twelves” never forget those in need. That says so much about us. They’re not just fans, they’re our friends. And we thank each and every one of them.” says Linda Nageotte, Food Lifeline President & CEO.

Led again by Chef John Howie and former Seahawks player Craig Terrill, this year’s challenge included many amazing events including a Kick Hunger Auction, a Chili Cook-Off and the incredibly popular Kick Hunger Challenge T-Shirts. We are so grateful to Chef Howie and Terrill for all their hard work raising funds and awareness for Food Lifeline.

Just like the Seahawks, Chef Howie and Craig had a full team supporting them in their quest to win the Kick Hunger Challenge.

Ames Bros: Designed the official Seattle Seahawks Kick Hunger Challenge Firehawk t-shirts, hoodies, and more and did amazing work to spread the word about this fun way to kick hunger.

Pearl Jam: Created the limited-edition Pearl Jam 12th Flag Needle Shirt and Pearl Jam Firehawk t-shirt to raise money for Food Lifeline and celebrate the Seahawks trip to the Super Bowl.

Metropolitan Market: Hosted an amazing Chili Cook Off event with special judges Jay Buhner, Kenny Mayne, Chef John Howie, and Craig Terrill.

Staff at SPORT Restaurant: In addition to crafting custom cocktails for the Kick Hunger Challenge, John Howie’s team hosted the Kick Hunger Auction in January, which brought in over $62,000. Additional thanks to Graham Crowe & Larry Snyder for serving as wonderful emcees and auctioneers.

Thanks to everyone who donated, sent out a tweet, bought a kick hunger shirt (and wore it proudly), your efforts will help Food Lifeline find even more homes for food in need.
