Food Lifeline and Republic Services Unite for Hunger Relief

Expanding Access, Empowering Communities

On May 14, Food Lifeline welcomed an enthusiastic team of volunteers from Republic Services to the Hunger Solution Center, to celebrate the launch of a brand new Mobile Market Program delivery truck. This amazing vehicle was the result of a key initiative powered by a $250,000 National Neighborhood Promise® grant from the Republic Services Charitable Foundation. The mobile market made it’s first delivery this morning, bringing fresh, culturally relevant foods to people in an area where traditional food banks may be more difficult to access.

A Shared Commitment to Sustainable Change.

From 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., the Hunger Solution Center buzzed with energy as Republic Services employees sorted, packed, and prepped thousands of meals. Opening remarks from Food Lifeline Chief Programs Officer Tiffani Kaech-Freet and Republic Services leaders Matt Henry and Ryan Lawler set the tone for the morning—one of partnership, purpose, and community-driven impact.

“We’re not just moving food—we’re moving equity forward.”

Why It Matters

The new Mobile Market Program delivery vehicle will help bridge the gap for individuals and families across Western Washington. This initiative is about meeting people where they are–literally–and providing sustainable access to nourishing food for all.

Republic Services’ support goes beyond one morning of volunteering. It reflects a long-term investment in building stronger, more resilient neighborhoods through partnership, resources, and action.

Looking Ahead

As Washington continues to grapple with food insecurity and rising costs, partnerships like this are critical. They remind us that real change happens when business, nonprofits, and communities align.
