Filling the Summer Meals Gap | Food Lifeline x HelloFresh

As summer approaches, many families face a challenge that often goes unseen. When school is out, children lose access to the breakfasts and lunches they rely on throughout the school year, creating what many organizations call the “summer meals gap.”

Addressing that challenge takes more than one organization. It takes partnership.

Recently, Food Lifeline joined HelloFresh, United Way of King County, and No Kid Hungry to help provide fresh meals for families across our region. Together, volunteers packed and distributed meals designed to help bridge the gap during the summer months, ensuring families have access to nutritious food when school-based meal programs are unavailable.

For Food Lifeline, partnerships like these are essential to reaching communities across Western Washington. While each organization brings unique expertise and resources to the table, the shared goal remains the same: ensuring neighbors & families have access to the food they need.

The impact of the collaboration was significant. According to Jeff York, Senior Director of Sustainability for HelloFresh North America, the partnership helped provide 3,000 meals to 750 families.

By working alongside partners like United Way of King County, HelloFresh, and No Kid Hungry, we can continue expanding access to food and supporting families throughout the year.

Because when organizations come together, partnership becomes action—and action helps build a future where no one has to wonder where their next meal will come from.
