Connecting with Our Community: A Year of Engagement and Impact
At Food Lifeline, our mission extends far beyond just providing food. As we table at various community events, we’re working hand-in-hand with the community to ensure they have access to not only food but also the resources that truly make a difference in their lives.
Our approach is intentional and holistic. We understand that meeting people where they are—whether they’re facing food insecurity, need assistance navigating tax season, or need to learn about their voting rights—helps create a more connected, empowered community. By offering resources alongside food, we are helping to foster deeper relationships and offering people the tools they need to navigate their everyday lives with dignity and support.
Why We Table
Tabling allows us to build connections in a thoughtful way. When we show up at community events, we bring not only food but also relevant, timely resources in the languages and formats that are most helpful for that community. Whether it’s during the summer when SUN Meals & SUN Bucks are in demand, or tax season when families need help accessing the Working Families Tax Credit, we are there to provide support.
We are intentional about this—considering when and what resources are needed. For example, during voting season, we provide materials on how to vote and why it matters. We try to tailor our approach to each community’s needs, ensuring that everyone who stops by our table leaves with something that will help them.

Success and Reflection
Looking back on the past year, it has been nothing short of rewarding. Since September, we’ve participated in five community events, where we’ve not only shared food but also distributed vital resources. From flyers on government programs to information on T-Mobile services, we’ve made sure that those we serve have everything they need in one place.
One of our highlights was a recent Community Resource Fair, where we collaborated with Metro Parks and Coordinated Care to serve over 250 community members. We distributed 60 pounds of fresh produce and snacks, along with information on partner agencies and the Working Families Tax Credit. The impact was immediate and tangible, showing just how important these resources are.
As we move into the new year, we’re excited to keep building on these connections. Our recent event at Highland Park Elementary provided more than just food; it created opportunities for conversation and helped us make new connections. Even though engagement with the print materials was limited, the conversations that took place were meaningful.
A Community-Centered Future
As we head into the new year, we’re committed to attending more events and expanding our reach. If you know of any community gatherings that would benefit from our presence, we encourage you to share them with us. We’ll review them as a team and select those where we can make the most impact.
Each tabling event we participate in is a step towards a stronger, more connected community. Whether it’s distributing food, offering resources like tax credits or voting information, or simply building trust, we are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead.
Together, we’re making a difference—one event at a time.
