Bartell Drugs Raises More Than A Million Meals for Food Lifeline

Seattle – The count is in, and the Bartell Drugs team and its loyal customers have donated more than one million meals to Food Lifeline and its 300 food bank partners across Western Washington!

In just four weeks, the chain’s Stock The Shelves Community Food Drive collected more than 70 pallets of donated food. The cash value of the donations is more than $250,000 and will create the equivalent of 1.25 million meals for people in Western Washington who are struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We learned from Food Lifeline that the pandemic was greatly affecting the number of local families that rely on food assistance and knew that Bartell’s could help. We are so grateful for the continuing generosity of our customers who are always willing to partner with Bartell’s to help those in need,” said Kathi Lentzsch, CEO, and President of Bartell Drugs. “We’re extremely proud to share that our store teams collected over $250,000 in donations that will help alleviate some uncertainties for those in the Puget Sound communities.”

Food Lifeline has already begun distributing the donated food, and couldn’t be more thrilled to partner with the legendary Northwest retailer.

“This is a huge boost to the work we’re doing right now during the pandemic”, says Food Lifeline’s Chief Development Officer, Ryan Scott. “We’ve been sourcing millions of pounds of fresh produce and dairy, but dry goods are tough to get with the national supply chain still recovering from the months-long crisis. So this food is incredibly important to the people and families we serve during this time. A huge thank you to Bartell Drugs and their amazing customers.”
