A Truckload of Hope: How Seashare’s Seafood Donation Made a Big Splash

When budgets tighten and protein becomes harder to come by, a single truckload can mean everything. On May 20, 2025, Seashare, in partnership with Trident, donated nearly 30,000 pounds of frozen seafood including 36 pallets of pollock fillets, battered rockfish, and wild Alaska pollock burgers. These items are rarely available through traditional donations streams.

SeaShare is a nonprofit that partners with seafood industry to bring nutritious, high-protein food to hunger-relief organizations.

“This kind of seafood is something we just don’t receive through other channels,” said Hannah a Food Resource team member at Food Lifeline. “Seashare is critical partner for us.”

So far this year, Food Lifeline has received 210,541 pounds of seafood –donated or donated-with-cost – through this long standing partnership.

What made this donation particularly meaningful was the timing. With shifting national funding priorities and cuts to federal food programs, high-quality protein has become even more scarce in food banks. SeaShare reached out directly saying they wanted to “catch up with you all and see how we can best support you in the changing funding dynamics we’re looking at today.”

Their support came fast – and made an immediate impact. Within just two days, nearly the entire shipment has been ordered and distributed.

“Step into our warehouse,” Hannah said.”You’ll see how fast it moves. Donations like this don’t sit long – they’re out the door and into hands of people who need it almost immediately.”

This donation isn’t just a story of frozen seafood – it’s a story of partnership, timing, and a shared mission to get nourishing food to those who need it most.

“We try to make it easy to do good,” Hannah added. “And this is what doing good looks like.”
