For the team at Pike Place Partners giving is second nature. But this year, they found a new way to lend a hand to a community that has been suffering the effects of Covid-19.
Each year, the team at Pike Place Partners selects gifts to send to its more than 350 clients. Usually, it’s a gift basket or gift cards. While it’s a nice gesture and appreciated by the customers, Pike Place Partners wanted to do something special that had more impact.
So instead of fruits and chocolates, the team decided to make a large cash donation to Food Lifeline. In honor of its clients, Pike Place Partners has donated $20,000. These funds will create the equivalent of 100,000 meals for the nearly 1.4 million people currently experiencing food insecurity in Western Washington. Nearly half of these people have never visited a food bank before the Covid-19 crisis.
“This is such a thoughtful way for Pike Place Partners to honor its clients”, says Food Lifeline President and CEO, Linda Nageotte. “The need is so great right now. This gift will help keep people from making hard choices during this tough time. Like choosing between rent or utilities to keep groceries in the refrigerator. Thank you Pike Place Partners, and all of your clients!”
