Hunger Action Month

September is Hunger Action Month – the Feeding America Network’s annual campaign to raise awareness of hunger in the United States and to take action to combat poverty, inequity, and injustice so we can end hunger for good. Across Washington and the nation, people are faced with choosing between their next meal and other basic needs like rent and medical care. As a Food Justice organization, Food Lifeline believes that food shouldn’t be an impossible choice, but we cannot end hunger alone. We need you to join our movement.

When you donate during Hunger Action Month, your support to help end the root causes of hunger goes twice as far! Our Presenting Sponsor, Gesa Credit Union, is matching all donations made to our Hunger Action Month donation page, up to $25,000!

Join us on three priority advocacy actions for Hunger Action Month!

Advocate for a Strong Farm Bill
Tell your lawmakers to pass a strong farm bill. This expansive legislation impacts access to nutritious foods for millions of people in our country. Food security benefits should be preserved and expanded to address increased needs and high costs.
Vote No on Initiative 2117
Repealing the Climate Commitment Act would eliminate efforts and funding designed to reduce food waste by 50% in the next 10 years. Preserving this legislation would also provide Food Banks greater access to source produce and proteins for our communities.
Vote No on Initiative 2109
I-2109 creates a tax cut for a handful of people – fewer than 4,000 wealthy households – shifting more tax responsibility on middle and low income Washingtonians who are already paying the biggest share – up to 17% of their incomes – in state and local taxes.
