Dress Down Hunger Raises $115,000
What an incredible evening dedicated to hunger relief! On Saturday, September 29th over 300 hunger champions turned out for Dress Down Hunger in Food Lifeline's warehouse. Together we ate, drank and celebrated.  Most important of all we raised over $115,000 for Food Lifeline, enough to provide more than 345,000 meals for hungry people in Western Washington. Food Lifeline CEO Awarded John van Hengel Fellowship
Food Lifeline’s President and CEO, Linda Nageotte, was named the 2012 John van Hengel Fellow at the Feeding America Network Summit on April 19. The award recognizes individuals who demonstrate strategic leadership, local impact, national influence, long-time commitment and a visionary/entrepreneurial spirit in the area of hunger-relief. Bank of America's Gift for Opportunity Fund Provides Thousands of Meals for Food Lifeline

Thanks to the generous support of individuals and a match offer from Bank of America, more than $28,000 was raised in contributions for Food Lifeline that will in turn provide over 84,000 meals to assist hungry families throughout Western Washington. Read more...

We Broke Records Again in our Fiscal Year 2011

It happened again. We were able to break records in our mission to end hunger! Last year, nearly 9,000 volunteers donated over 43,000 hours of their time--which is the equivalent of more than 20 full time employees. Food Lifeline is one of King County's 2011 Best Workplaces for Recycling & Waste Reduction

King County’s Solid Waste Division (SWD) has named 89 local companies to its fifth annual “Best Workplaces for Recycling and Waste Reduction” list, and introduced a new business honor roll for companies that have made the list for five years in a row. Food Lifeline was on the list this year!

Food Lifeline Becomes a Regence Community Partner Organization

Food Lifeline is excited to announce a new partnership with Regence BlueShield in Washington. As an official Regence Community Partner Organization (CPO), Food Lifeline will receive support through a variety of means, including a donation of $200,000 over the next three years to help develop and implement a children’s feeding program...

 

Congress Passes Child Nutrition Reauthorization

Congress just passed The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act (S.3307) which puts more meals on the table for hungry children! The bill now heads to President Obama for his signature which he is expected to do quickly.

 

Stop Cuts to Food Stamp Benefits

Currently, Senate leadership is looking for new ways to pay for a federal jobs and program extenders bill, which would help continue extended unemployment insure and enhanced Medicaid funding. Though passing this jobs bill is important, the Senate has suggested cutting billions of dollars from future SNAP (food stamp) benefits in order to help finance the package. If the Senate does opt for these cuts, the cut in benefits is estimated to total $9.56 billion!
