SHARING FOOD, SMILES AND THANKS

Nearly 350 individuals from local Food Lifeline meal programs shared a hot meal at the Thanksgiving Gathering Event hosted at Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery. Full plates of turkey, potatoes and gravy were passed, and there was no short supply of smiles and gratitude.

One woman who attended "was laughing and relaxed, and [really came] out of her shell... [She] said 'I can't believe they're doing this all for us. I feel loved!'" Says Sharon Poole, Facilities Coordinator at Noel House, the Food Lifeline member agency where the woman visits.

"I was so impressed by the level of unconditional giving from the restaurant staff. All the hosts and servers were warm, friendly and welcoming to everyone who walked in the door. I don't see that very often when homeless people leave their own communities," says Poole.

"Thanks to you all for making such a huge difference in the lives of the people I serve, as well as the most vulnerable people in Seattle. It was clearly a positive experience that they'll carry with them for a long time."
