Food Frenzy Breaks Records Feeding Hungry Children!

Food Frenzy 2010 broke records yet again, with nearly 100 organizations competing to feed hungry kids. Food Lifeline extends our sincerest thanks to all the Food Frenzy participants for your outstanding support of this award-winning event. Together you raised more than $327,000, enough to provide 1.3 million meals for hungry children. The 14,000 pounds of nutritious food you collected and your tremendous outpouring of volunteer support (over 2,700 hours) mean thousands more meals will reach hungry families this summer.

Congratulations to the top organizations in each category. Remember that the real winners are the hungry kids you're feeding through your generosity and hard work.

We also want to thank Food Frenzy Sponsor Cedar Grove Composting; Challengers Clothier & Head, P.S.; Davis Wright Tremaine LLP; King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office; Olson Kundig Architects: and Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union; and our wonderfully dedicated Food Frenzy Committee. Additional kudos to Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union and Cedar Grove Composting for piloting new Food Frenzy sectors this year.  Thanks to Puget Sound Association of Legal Administrators for their partnership and to Prolumina for hosting a food drop-off site.

Taking a "Bite" Out of Hunger

You helped us take a huge "bite" out of hunger this summer at the Comcast Bite of Seattle®. The Alley hosted by Tom Douglas was a delicious part of the 3-day festival and 6,300 people stopped in to sample "bites" from 18 of Seattle's finest restaurants.

By visiting The Alley and the Beringer Wine Tasting and Great Steak Challenge event, we raised nearly $25,000, which is enough for 100,000 meals for hungry people. We had the help of more than 60 volunteers throughout the weekend, and we couldn't have done it without you. Thank you also to SOLO® for donating 7,500 compostable dinner plates and to Sand Point Grill and Dragonfish Asian Café for donating their entrée item.

The Falls Come to Life 2010

Teresa and Drew BlissThank you to all who attended The Falls Come to Life 2010 at the Salish Lodge & Spa on February 19th. It was an engaging evening, and our generous guests helped us raise more than $24,000 in support of Food Lifeline, the equivalent of nearly 100,000 meals for hungry people in Western Washington!  In addition, Food Lifeline and the Salish Lodge & Spa received some great publicity, raising awareness about hunger and about the Salish Lodge’s caring spirit in our community.

Our auction was a success as well, as Auctioneer Tim Leahy inspired bidders to take home amazing items including a getaway to the San Juan Islands, specially designed experiences with each chef in attendance at the event, and a Trip of a Lifetime to Bali, Africa or Italy.

Emcee Mark Wright lead guests through five delicious courses and University Food Bank’s Director, Joe Gruber, shared heartfelt experiences from the front lines of hunger relief. Thank you to our fabulous chefs: Brian McCracken, Dana Tough, Jack Strong, Jason Stratton, John Howie and Kerry Sear who prepared uniquely delicious and enticing courses.

Special thanks to the Salish Lodge & Spa for generously hosting this event to benefit Food Lifeline; we appreciate our strong partnership since 2007 and look forward to next year’s event!

Thank you for supporting Brenden Foster's wish, and for supporting Food Lifeline.

Bag Hunger Luncheon 2009

More than $110,000 was raised to provide more than 550,000 meals toward ending hunger and fulfilling dreams for children in Western Washington at Food Lifeline’s 12th Annual Bag Hunger Luncheon on September 17th. Nearly 300 guests joined us for a moving program highlighted by keynote speaker James Whitfield, former regional Director for Region 10 for the Health and Human Services Department. Mr. Whitfield spoke about the reality that we all are “hungry” for something and yet for some children, their actual hunger prevents them from achieving great things.

Food Lifeline presented five Ending Hunger Awards to honor those individuals and donors who have gone above and beyond their traditional role to support Food Lifeline’s mission to end hunger. Award winners:

  • Outstanding Volunteer Award: The Church of Scientology

  • Outstanding Foundation Donor Award: The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

  • Outstanding Individual Award: Kristin Maas

  • Raising Hunger Awareness Award: The Miller|Hull Partnership

  • Outstanding Food Donor Award: SeaShare

Emcees Tom Douglas and Thierry Rautureau kept the event lively, and Food Lifeline President & CEO Linda Nageotte’s heartfelt comments culminated in an unveiling of Food Lifeline’s new logo. Thank you to Title Sponsor Moneytree, Inc. and to Contributing Sponsor The Boeing Company for making this compelling event possible. We also offer tremendous thanks to all our table sponsors, table captains and committee members.
